The Radiation Treatment and Isolation
The last few days have been very hard. We posted the email Jan sent out to some friends to let you know what is going on. Friday Ric and I took Jan down to the hospital for the Radiation Treatment (I'm not actually sure what it is called). We spent about an hour going back and forth to different places getting checked in, blood taken, and meeting with the Chief Radiologist being informed about the treatment and all the precautions, side effects, dangers, etc. etc. Janalee was absolutely exhausted by the time she actually got the treatment. She said it was like drinking 2 or 3 sips of water. It took about 2 minutes after all the run around. She had to get in the back of the van away from us. She is staying in Ric and my bedroom where she has her own bathroom. She will be on the no iodine diet and isolation until probably Monday. They said she could be around us but about six feet away and for short periods of time. Today when I went to check on her she had gloves on and had been freezing and was snuggled down in the covers. She goes from being hot to cold. She has been throwing up today and really hurting all over, like muscle pains. It is hard to watch her go through this and her having to be alone. She hasn't been able to eat much today at all. In the morning she will be able to start her thyroid medicine. It will take a few weeks to get built up in her system and she will slowly start to feel better. Thursday night she has to drink some stuff and it will prep her (I think it will be kind of like a colonoscopy prep) for the full body scan she has to have Friday. It could make her really sick. She also has an appointment with the surgeon on Friday. The trips back and forth to the McKay-Dee are getting a little much, but we are grateful for the good doctors there. The body scan will show where the thyroid cells have spread by where the radiation is. Thank you everyone for your love, support and prayers. It's what keeps us going. We love you all!

I can't imagine how hard it would be being the mother having to watch you child go through this, especially where she is alone. It is hard enough watching your kid have a cold. We are praying for all of you constantly and love you all. By the way (paula) you need to sleep at night so you don't get run down. Love ya
Your family is in our prayers!! I am so sorry to hear about all your trials! I wish we were a little closer to help ~~ we would love to be there with your family through all this! Please keep us informed and let us know if we can help. We are REALLY close to McKay Dee.
Jan is such a trooper! We are so glad the isolation is almost over because I don't know how much more Garrett can take without his BFF! We love you!
